Do you have any advice for planning a vacation to Disney World?

Im 18 and my boyfriend is 19 we are going to Disney World June 8th through the 15th. What do you recommend? Last time I went to Disney World I was about 7. Ive looked at the Disney packages and were thinking about staying at a value resort and doing the dining plan and getting park hoppers. Any advice on things to do or ways to save would be great! :)

Don’t buy park hoppers in advance; you probably won’t use them. If you decide you want to park hop, then you can easily add the hopper option at any time. You want to spend your precious Disney days enjoying the parks, not devoting 90 minutes to getting from Animal Kingdom to Epcot. There is plenty in any one park to keep you enchanted all day and far into the night!

If you can afford it, the moderate price resorts are quite a step up in comfort and convenience. No matter where you stay, stock your room with some groceries. There is no such thing as economically priced food at a Disney resort, and food prices inside the theme parks are even higher. I always eat a hearty breakfast in my room and pack a lunch to take with me to the park. Take your own refillable water bottle too.

Get the "WDW Without Kids" book – lots of great advice. Or just use the "Unofficial WDW Guide". AAA has them, or you might find them at your library, or you can go to your bookstore.

Don’t expect to "see it all." That makes for a crummy time of running from one place to another without taking the time to enjoy any of it. Pick a few "must sees" and make sure you do them, then everything else you get to do is just gravy. This also allows you to take time to further investigate anything that catches your eye without throwing off a schedule. If you are going to have ANY sit down meals what so ever (also know as "table service" as opposed to "counter service") you need to make your reservations 90 days in advance. I personally always use a dining plan. I know some people don’t like them, but it allows me to budget exactly what I’ll need for food AND pay it in advance so that part of the money doesn’t even factor into my day to day expense worries. Pressed pennies are one of the cheapest souvenirs you can find in Disney. Try to do a character meal even if you don’t have kids with you… they pay just as much attention to adults! If you’ve never been before, don’t go to the Magic Kingdom first – It’s the park that everybody thinks of when they imagine Disney and if you go there first the other parks can sometimes feel like a let down when they never should!
